In China, Tesla has a factory in Shanghai that produces the Model 3 and Model Y. It is its largest plant in the world, with an annual capacity of about 1.1 million units per year. Tesla appears to be facing demand problems in China as the country's economic growth slows and there is stronger competition from local electric vehicle companies.

Tesla will run production for 17 days from January 3 to January 19 and stop production of electric vehicles from January 20 to January 31 to allow for an extended break during the Chinese New Year.

Tesla sold 100,291 China-made vehicles in November, including 62,493 vehicles delivered in China and 37,798 vehicles exported, data released last month by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) showed.

In addition to the Model 3 and Model Y, Tesla is about to restart the Model S and Model X deliveries in China.

Tesla will announce prices for the Model S and Model X in China on January 6, and their deliveries will begin in the first half of 2023.
