NIO has entered into a new agreement for it to accelerate the construction of battery swap stations in highway service areas in eastern China's Jiangsu province.

NIO Power, the company's power solutions arm, today signed a strategic partnership agreement with Jiangsu Expressway Energy to build charging and battery swap facilities along the highways based on 78 pairs of service areas managed by the latter, according to an article published in the NIO App.

Jiangsu Expressway Energy is an integrated highway energy service provider formed as a joint venture between Jiangsu Communications Holding Co Ltd, Sinopec Sales Co Ltd and PetroChina Company Limited, according to the article.

NIO and the company have worked together since 2018 and have jointly built more than 20 battery swap stations along major highways in Jiangsu province, according to the article.

These stations facilitate travel within Jiangsu province for NIO owners across the country and enhance the energy replenishment experience along the highways of the Yangtze River Delta city cluster.

So far, NIO has entered into strategic partnerships with highway management authorities in Anhui, Zhejiang and Jiangsu, which will bring a more dense replenishment network to the Yangtze River Delta city cluster in the future.

This is the latest collaboration in NIO's efforts to build its network of battery swap stations.

On November 23, 2021, NIO signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Guangdong Tongyi Expressway Service Co Ltd in order to lay the groundwork for advancing the construction of battery swap stations along highways in Guangdong.
