Recently, SAIC delivered 410 units hydrogen powered vehicles for commercial operation, including SAIC Maxus MIFA MPVs, SAIC Hongyan heavy-duty trucks and SAIC refrigerating light trucks.
Currently, SAIC is actively involved in promoting commercial operation of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and helping Shanghai build a world-class center for innovation, industrialization and diversified utilization of hydrogen energy.
As one of the leading players in China’s auto industry, SAIC officially launched the fuel cell development project in 2001. Having made a total investment of several billion RMB, SHPT, a subsidiary of SAIC which is specialized in research and development of fuel cells, officially rolled out M4H fuel cell stack with 44 first-level spare parts all manufactured domestically. In addition, the fuel cell system with M4H fuel cell stack is internationally competitive.
According to SAIC, it aims to put at least ten different models of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles on the market before 2025. SHPT is expected to increase its market value to ten billion RMB, build a research & development team of over 1,000 employees and reach an annual production capacity of over 10,000 units hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
