XPENG Motors has taken a major leap in its European growth strategy by starting local production at Magna’s plant in Graz, Austria. Leveraging Magna’s state-of-the-art facilities, XPENG will now manufacture its electric vehicles directly in Europe.
In Q3 2025, the first locally built models – the G6 and G9 – rolled off the production line, with more models set to follow.
Strong Sales Momentum in Europe
Since entering the European market in 2021, XPENG has expanded to over 46 countries and regions worldwide. Between January and July 2025, the company sold 18,701 vehicles overseas, representing a 217% year-on-year increase. In Europe, XPENG became the top-selling Chinese premium EV brand, registering more than 8,000 new vehicles in the first half of the year. The G6 alone made up around 67% of sales. XPENG is also preparing to launch the P7+, the world’s first AI-powered car, in Europe soon.
With strong product performance and cutting-edge smart driving technology, XPENG has earned high customer satisfaction, achieving an NPS of 81%—outperforming many traditional luxury brands. Local production with Magna will further strengthen competitiveness and fuel market growth.
R&D and Production Go Hand in Hand
Alongside production, XPENG is investing heavily in research and development. Its first European R&D center, located in Munich, Germany, is now operational. Guided by the principle “In Europe, With Europe,” the center focuses on user-driven innovation and local needs.
Supported by the Munich R&D hub, XPENG plans to expand Magna-based production to include sedans, mid-size SUVs, compact SUVs, and high-performance EVs, offering European customers a wider range of choices.
XPENG Vice Chairman and Co-President Brian Gu commented:
“Our partnership with Magna marks a significant milestone in XPENG’s long-term European strategy. We are committed to sustained investment in this market.”
Capturing Europe's EV Opportunity
As EV adoption continues to accelerate across Europe, XPENG is well positioned to seize emerging opportunities. Combining its smart EV technology with Magna’s manufacturing expertise and Europe’s supply chain, XPENG aims to become a top choice for local consumers and a driving force in global EV development.
