On June 11th, local time, the Governor of Puebla State, Mexico, announced that the German car manufacturer Audi will invest €1 billion (approximately $1.08 billion) in the state to develop an electric vehicle project. Audi has confirmed this plan.

The Puebla State government announced in a statement that this investment will directly create 500 new job opportunities in the state. According to the statement, Audi Mexico's CEO, Tarek Mashhour, and Puebla State Governor, Sergio Salomon, aims to establish the state as a hub for electric vehicles.

The statement mentions that Audi Mexico has already begun installing necessary infrastructure and equipment at its factory in Puebla State to support the production of e-tron electric vehicles. In a brief statement on June 12th, Audi Mexico explicitly stated, "The company is moving towards the future of the automotive industry, playing a significant role in the electrification strategy across the entire Audi Group. Currently, Audi's factory in Puebla State is ready to kickstart its electric vehicle project and continue contributing its full potential to e-tron technology."

Audi CEO Gernot Doellner stated in March that despite facing challenges this year, Audi remains committed to its electric vehicle strategy. Audi, a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, currently operates a factory in San Jose Chiapa, Puebla, Mexico where it employs 5,000 workers. Sergio Salomon wrote on social platform X, " Investors' confidence in Mexico is strengthened, as there is certainty that our country is growing economically."
