On July 2nd, BYD Automotive announced that its Thailand factory will complete construction on July 4th, coinciding with the production of their 80 millionth new energy vehicle. The achievement marks BYD's ability to produce from their 70th to 80th millionth vehicle in under four months, starting from March 25th earlier this year.
On August 9, 2023, BYD rolled out its 5 millionth new energy vehicle. Just over three months later, on November 24, 2023, the 6 millionth new energy vehicle was produced at the Zhengzhou factory. BYD continued this rapid pace, with the 7 millionth vehicle rolling off the line on March 25, 2024, and is set to mark another milestone on July 4, 2024, with the production of its 8 millionth new energy vehicle. This impressive achievement, from the 5 millionth to the 8 millionth vehicle, was accomplished in just 11 months.
On September 8, 2022, BYD Automotive Thailand Co., Ltd. signed a contract with WHA, formally finalizing the land acquisition and construction agreements. This milestone marks BYD's fully-owned investment in its first overseas passenger vehicle factory in Thailand. The factory is projected to have an annual production capacity of approximately 150,000 vehicles, catering to the local Thai market as well as extending its reach to other ASEAN countries and beyond. In less than two years, BYD Thailand factory is poised to commence production, solidifying its presence in the international automotive manufacturing sector.
