Chinese luxury carmaker Hongqi has taken a major step in its Southeast Asia strategy with the official launch of two flagship models—the Hongqi HQ9 luxury MPV and the Hongqi HS7 premium SUV—in Yangon, Myanmar. Held in May at the Novotel Max Hotel, the high-profile event welcomed over 700 guests and set a national record for a new vehicle launch, with 26 pre-orders and 8 additional follow-up orders secured on the spot.

The launch marks a new chapter for Hongqi as it expands its footprint in emerging markets across Southeast Asia, signaling growing demand for high-end Chinese automotive brands in the region.

Designed for business and family use, the HQ9 MPV offers an intelligent cockpit system and a spacious, reconfigurable interior that emphasizes comfort and convenience. Meanwhile, the HS7 SUV boasts a robust powertrain and state-of-the-art safety technologies, offering both performance and peace of mind. Attendees had the opportunity to experience both models first-hand through test drives, generating enthusiastic feedback from local consumers.

The event was co-organized by Hongqi, local distributor Wanying Company, and CB Bank of Myanmar, reflecting a strong three-way partnership that spans vehicle technology, assembly, financing, and after-sales services. The presence of Hongqi’s brand ambassador—renowned Myanmar actor Paing Tagon—alongside a social media livestream, significantly boosted the event’s visibility both online and offline.

As Hongqi deepens its commitment to the Myanmar market, the company plans to introduce more models tailored to local driving preferences and environmental needs. It also aims to promote smart mobility and green transportation solutions, reinforcing its position as a leader in intelligent and sustainable automotive innovation from China.
