JAKARTA, Indonesia (May 6, 2025) — China-based Skyworth Auto has entered the Indonesian market with the launch of local assembly operations and the debut of its SKYWORTH K electric vehicle under the brand name Polytron.
The company’s KD (knock-down) plant was inaugurated in Jakarta on Tuesday, marking a significant step in Skyworth’s expansion strategy across Southeast Asia. The Polytron model, assembled locally, will be positioned as the brand’s flagship EV offering in Indonesia.
Skyworth Auto’s launch follows a strategic agreement signed in August 2024 with Polytron, a technology subsidiary of Indonesia’s Djarum Group. The memorandum of understanding outlines cooperation on vehicle assembly, product development, and localization of both software and hardware.
Company officials said the move reflects Skyworth’s long-term commitment to regional growth and the broader adoption of new energy vehicles in emerging markets. The Polytron model received positive feedback at the launch event, with local consumers highlighting its performance, smart features and environmentally friendly design.
Skyworth Auto said it plans to expand its presence in Southeast Asia through continued investment in localized manufacturing, product adaptation and after-sales services. The company also aims to support China’s NEV industry as it seeks broader international reach.
Skyworth Auto is a subsidiary of Chinese electronics group Skyworth Group. The automaker has been expanding into overseas markets since launching its first EVs in China in recent years.
