BUCHAREST, Romania (chinaevs.org) — Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD launched its operations in Romania on May 8, introducing four new energy vehicle models as part of its ongoing expansion in the European market.
The initial lineup includes the all-electric BYD SEALION 7 and BYD SEAL, as well as the plug-in hybrid BYD SEAL U DM-i and the compact BYD ATTO 2.
“We are pleased to extend our sales network to Romania,” said Li Ke, executive vice president of BYD. “Every new European market is important to us. These new models are designed to meet the needs of both daily commuters and long-distance drivers.”
To support its market entry, BYD has partnered with local dealerships Tiriac Auto and DAB Auto. The company has opened its first showroom in Bucharest.
BYD plans to establish more than 30 retail locations across Romania by the end of 2025. Planned expansion cities include Ploiești, Brașov, Iași, Cluj-Napoca and Timișoara.
