BYD has officially launched the Seal 05 DM-i in Mexico, where the model is marketed as the new BYD KING. More than 400 media representatives and business partners attended the launch event.
The Seal 05 DM-i is equipped with BYD's fifth-generation DM hybrid technology and delivers a combined driving range of up to 1,680 km (NEDC), setting a new range record for plug-in hybrid sedans in the Mexican market.
The launch builds on the success of the previous BYD KING, known in China as the Destroyer 05, which entered the Mexican market in April 2024. The model has become one of Mexico's best-selling plug-in hybrid vehicles, supported by its fuel efficiency and overall performance.
The new Seal 05 DM-i introduces a number of upgrades. In addition to the latest DM technology, it features a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen with support for Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Google Gemini voice assistance, offering an enhanced in-car experience.
The new model is expected to strengthen BYD's presence in Mexico's growing plug-in hybrid segment by combining extended driving range with upgraded connectivity and intelligent features.
Speaking at the launch event, Jorge Vallejo, Passenger Vehicle Sales Director of BYD Mexico, said the introduction of the Seal 05 DM-i reflects the company's continued commitment to the Mexican market.
"Innovation has always been at the core of BYD's development. We continue to invest in research and development to advance new energy technologies and deliver competitive products and solutions for customers worldwide. The launch of the Seal 05 DM-i marks another important milestone in our long-term growth in Mexico."
As BYD continues to expand its new energy vehicle portfolio, the company aims to support the adoption of greener mobility solutions and contribute to the low-carbon development of Mexico's automotive industry.
